Rare Craft was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 2026 — not in a boardroom, but over a shared frustration. Two friends who loved beautiful things kept finding the same problem: the leather goods on the market were either mass-produced and forgettable, or outrageously priced and out of reach. So they decided to do something about it.
What started as a passion project became a brand built on a single, uncompromising belief — the things you carry every day should be worth carrying.
The Leather We Use
Not all leather is created equal. We spent months researching, sampling, and rejecting before we found what we were looking for — and we found it in Pakistan.
Pakistan is home to some of the world's most skilled leather artisans and tanneries, with a centuries-old tradition of working with bovine hides. The cow leather we source is full-grain — the highest grade available. Unlike corrected or split leather, full-grain retains the natural surface of the hide, complete with its unique grain patterns and character markings. It is denser, more durable, and develops a rich patina over time that tells the story of the person who carries it.

We don't just care about how our leather looks — we care about where it comes from. Our sourcing partners in Pakistan operate under strict ethical standards, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and responsible environmental practices. We visit our suppliers, we ask the hard questions, and we only work with those who share our values.
